As threatened, throughout April - in celebration of Record Store Day - I offer up a daily post related to all things record shop.
And if any of it sounds like a manifesto, consider it good practice for my election campaign next year.
Day sixes steaming pile of japery, kinghell boring bullshit and contentious nonsense...
Creative juice and Here Comes Synchronicity Again...
So there I was, out with some musician friends the other night and it got me musing about all of the great musicians and artists and CREATIVE JUICE I've worked alongside in record shops over the past thirty years. Later that night I decided to make them the subject of one of my daily posts. But then I jumped onto another topic and didn't. Heck, I thought, I've got weeks (Oh Lordy - Ed) left to fit that in.
Then this morning, an ex-colleague of mine from my Fopp days posted a bandcamp link to a sonic treat he's been cooking up in Bangkok. There's that synchronicity again I smiled to myself, referring of course to the ace dungeon-grade electronics hemorrhaging from my phone, and not doggo dragging his undercarriage across my forehead like an interactive over affectionate alarm c(l)ock.
I asked for the OK to share from the man in Bangers. The man from Bangers, he say yes!
Anyway. One of the things about me, I love being surrounded by CREATIVE JUICE, and one of the biggest kicks is working in an industry surrounded by people creating stuff for other people to enjoy. I'm a failing creative. I don't paint or draw anymore, I don't make music. I don't write as much as I should (so says Mr Content Provider - ed) and so I'm always knocked out by other people creating stuff.
Over the next month I'll tag a bunch of these ex-colleagues and their work (only with their approval of course), cos they're ace.
