Imagine if Boards Of Canada or UNKLE superimposed their weird, esoteric, too-cool-for-school film and library sounds samples over BJTM or Mazzy Star geetah noodling instead of programmed beats and you're not only halfway there, you're lost in a fuggy head trip akin to Acid Mothers Temple's Pink Lady Lemonade, albeit without the squawling white noize orgasm after fifty minutes (is that a good thing? - ed)
A couple of the tracks here are truly brilliant; Sunstone with it's Scarfolk-esque daemon energy kids describing just what makes them lose their shit and get sent early to bed, and Voodoo, with it's dead famous sci-fi sample building towards a DMT-like crescendo.
For sure, there are moments when you're anticipating a Tess Parks or Hope Sandoval vocal to come in, but it's testament to the hypnotic ritual these warlocks are weaving that I for one am happy they avoid the obvious.
